It's my first automatic and when putting it from park into reverse the box makes quite a clunk, think I'm pressing the brake pedal hard enough, any ideas or hints? Cheers,Tommy. Ps,it's a 07 sl 350.

Might be a function of engine revs. When the engine is cold revs may be raised slightly but this should go away when warmed up. If not its possible it needs checking out. Other possibility might be a low fluid level but I would have thought this would be evident in all the gears?
