hi all, my e230 auto will not change up the gears, but goes right through the rev range, so i guess its not limp mode?, the strange thing is this, my car got hit on the drivers side and the very same day this problem started, could there be a link here or not? i.e is there anything that could have caused it due to the hit?
but saying that, i had noticed previous to this there was a slight slipping in low gears, does low atf fluid cause slipping or not, any help would be great, thanks, the car is a e230 auto 1234D gearbox.

Get the oil level checked first as cheapest option. Oil and filter needs change at about 50k miles. Low fluid can cause slipping and other faults. You may need to get fault codes read on star computer if level ok. Look for good indie as cheaper than MB.

Seems that MB dont supply as classed as workshop tool, ebay USA seller does though. Looks as though price with postage now about £38 due to drop in pound (i paid £24 couple of years ago). Would think a local member would lend you one as only used on rare occasions and probably not worth laying out £38 if you don't have to.

thats a very good idea, but i dont like to ask to borrow tools, but if there is any members close to me that would be kind enough, that would be great, my car is in the bodyshop at the moment, i am expecting it back in about 2 weeks time, thats when i will need to do the fluid check, as i am having problems with the auto box changing up, thanks for your help, Guy..
