Gearbox problems Sreg E300TD Auto

I've got a couple of problems with my gearbox

1. On cold days in wont change up for the first 5 mins. It just stays in first, but then after I suppose it warms up and then works fine.

2. Sometime in very sluggish pulling away.

But most of the time it's fine.

Any ideas, the cars done £166k with a full service history

The car is made to hold on to 2nd to warm up the cat.

Your problem could be no more than needing a fluid and filter change. This is normally done at 40-50k miles and its possible that it never been done.

With a good indie you are looking at up to £150

The ATF change is slightly more than £150. The oil alone is £75-90, plus the filter, gasket etc.

No Cat warming on a diesel, it should change up readily at all times.

The sluggish pull away sounds like the S/W switch might be engaging W inadvertently, so engaging 2nd gear to pull away.

Try an ATF change, then have the codes read as it might be dropping into limp home mode so engaging the last good gear.
