My W211 has the on-line service record rather than the old paper book.

Question - gearbox is due service in 4000 miles but the car itself is NOT due a service. If I have just the gearbox serviced can this be recorded on the on-line service record as a single stand alone item?

If you mean can the service record be updated on the Mercedes system then yes it can (i had it done on mine) However if you have a service plan you would be better leaving it till it goes in for the service also.

Also, service schedule is not a precise science... there are very many variables affecting the deterioration of the ATF, the manufacturer's schedule interval is at best a guestimate.

So unless you envision doing a considerable amount of mileage before the next service, personally I would just leave it and get it done with the next service. No harm will befall it if the ATF change is done 5k miles later that it should etc.

It can be updated and put in as an 'interim service' with just ATF 'ticked' yes.
