Gearbox Service - Manual Cars

Just done a gearbox repair on the boys Fiesta ,and there is no drain plug so they must feel confident that they are sealed for life.

Maybe they realise that by making the internals from cheese the gearbox would need stripped and repaired at around 50k and as such the oil would be replaced at that time anyway.

So ATF just changed on the GA8G45AW 8 speed auto in the 2021 X1(so it is an Aisin gearbox)

Not the most informative of invoice but 6 litres of ATF7 and consumables (apparently filter housing) used for £433 as quoted.

Did a diagnosis across the car on my request, but as they found nothing, they charged me nothing.
Good ploy to get a new customer which I don't mind.

MOT and service in late September so will try them for that aswell.

Right, back to MB topics now......

Thank you 👍

Have you checked your gearbox has fill and drain plugs? If it has, remember to remove the fill plug before the drain plug.
Yeah looking online just the transmission oils are pretty cheap!
Then don't buy the absolute cheapest - get something with decent quality. GL4 (if it is gear oil that is specified) - not GL5.

Make sure you get the exact spec of oil for your box, the Castrol recommended manual gearbox oil ruined the gear change on our old V-class.
