Hi guys, i have a b200 cdi merc on a 07 plate. I was wondering if anyone has came across a wobble on the front end due to gearbox oil not being changed for a while. £230.00 for gearbox oil change with filters...thought that was expensive but i know it will take around 10-11 ltrs...any idea's

Ive has drop links dampers, racks, cv joints and everything else on the suspension changed in the last few weeks..still a wobble when you get to speed 30-40mph...its a automatic too

Confused.car

Thanks for reply smiley. Everything has pretty much been changed on the front end ie dampers, droplinks, track rod ends. Suspension, cv joints. I was told that it could be gearbox oil being sludgy . Tge only other thing i can think is lower engine mounts which i hope its not. But im not hearing anything knocking so a little confused..its all been lazer aligned tracking too

B Class CVT Transmission Failure
IIRC the box requires a special =non standard= expensive fluid-changed every 30k miles??
fluid meeting MB 236.20 only should be used for the 722.8 CVT transmission.

I assume that the tyres have been balanced and the wheels checked carefully?

My B180 CVT box required the transmission fluid change every 40k miles so would assume the B200 is the same. Have a good look at the tyres, I had all sorts of strange things happening to my car and in the end it was the tyres although they looked good and had at least 2mm tread left on them.

As said check the wheels and tyres.

One quick and cost free test on a "same size wheels all round" car like the W169 would be to swap front to back. A shift in vibration source might help pinpoint if the front wheels or tyres had a problem. the fronts are going to do a lot more work than the rears normally--- engine weight + drive +steering
Assuming the rears are in good nick and balanced of course

Hi, Geoff all new tyres on the front and balanced mate

Here's a video showing how the Bosch "push" belt is used in the CVT transmission. I imagine this can generate quite a few metal particulates making a regular gearbox fluid/ filter/ magnetic traps change essential.

Hi All, how easy is it to change the glow relay on a b200cdi merc on 57 plate please..

Not sure about the relay, but the glow plugs are a pig. From and Indi, I was quoted £200 labour to change one, so left it until the engine had problems starting and changed all four.

Geoff, Thats a financial ouch £200.00 for one...ive never been charged that price from mb for 4 to be done.
