Hi Guys

After seeing my work on Richards silver SL55 AMG, mbclub member KMA880 contacted me to take a look at his two sl’s and his newly acquired 993 911 C2S. After a meeting at his house, it was to be the 993 to be booked in for a full correction first as he had only just purchased the car. The car had not been washed since purchased so was generally pretty dirty. But though a very tidy example it was in need of some TLC in the correction department. The car was booked in within a week of viewing to be followed with his SL. The car arrived on Saturday 9th February, where it was locked away in the studio until I started it on the Monday.
Monday morning arrived and it was time to start the detail on one of my most favourite 911’s. As you can see the car on arrival was in good shape, not to dirty, so this one was going to be all in the detail.

First thing was to degrease all the shuts & gaps as they were full of grease and old polish resin.

Then it was onto the exhaust to try and remove some of the nasty baked on fumes from the rear boxes.

Once this was completed it was time to degrease, scrub and rinse the arches. The wheels were not cleaned at this stage as I was removing them to clean off the car properly and crystal lacquer them.

The car was snow foamed at 60*c and washed with born to be mild. It was then taken back inside to be dried with a 70/30 towel and warm air blower.

856610_285796288215503_324035963_o.jpg

Once the vehicle was dry it was time to proceed with a mild clay bar and lubrication and then given a thorough IPA wipe down to remove clay sling and any old polishing oils. Once completed, it was apparent there were some severe defects within the paint. The front bumper had a few chips but one nasty rock chip that was quite large.
857976_285796294882169_985915277_o.jpg

But worst of all the rear bumper at some point had a poor smart repair, had not been keyed properly and the lacquer had failed:eek:

After speaking to the owner and offering two options, it was choose that they would be smart repaired. Now smart repairs are no full repaint quality and a full respray was the first option to ensure a perfect job. But the car was already having a lot of money spent on bringing it up to scratch already so this was the only cost effective option. But you will soon see our style of smart repair is done to the highest standard.
So to start with it was time to correct the rest of the car. The paint was in ok condition, so just had light swirl marks, a few rds’s and quite a lot of D.A. sanding marks. These were apparent across the car, with the roof being particular affected with large deeper scratches. So here are some various correction photos.

Two thirds of the car was completed and then it was time to address the front and rear end smart repairs. These were sanded back, painted and lacquered so the blow lines could then be placed underneath the bumpers. This way if a blow line appeared 2 years down the line it would be hidden away right underneath the cars bodywork. Once this was completed, I wet sanded then with 1500, 2000, 2500 and then 3000 for it to match the rest of the standards paintwork.

Once corrected the body work was given another thorough IPA wipe down and check with the sun gun to make sure I was happy with the work. The car was then dusted with the air line and supernatural duster to ensure a compound dust free vehicle. I then moved onto a couple of little things that were irritating me such as the grease built up in the locks and the huge amount of grease build up n the door shuts. The locks were cleaned with supernatural detailing sticks and a lot of labour and the excess grease in the door shuts were removed with tardis. Once this was completed, I then applied C1 crystal lacquer to all paintwork for 30,000 miles of protection and left to cure for 24 hours in the studio @25*c. While this was happening, it was time to remove the wheels and clean them properly off the car. They were removed, degreased, cleaned with a ph neutral wheel cleaner, chemical bathed, tar removed and given a thorough IPA wipe down. Once finished it was time to protect them in C5 nano coat and cured using a heat gun. While the wheels were removed the arches were dressed in aerospace 303 and callipers were given a thorough clean.

The wheels were then put back on the car, torque to the correct factory setting and tyre dressing was applied.

The shuts were then polished, rubber seals protected and tailpipes polished using the rotary. Then to finish the exterior glass was polished and protected in G1 crystal lacquer with the insides thoroughly clean with glass cleaner. Also 911 are notoriously known to be impossible to clean the bottom corners of the rear window, so this tool was used to get right in the corner crevices. This makes life a lot easier!

Michael has been a true professional from our initial consultation to completing the paint correction and detail on my newly acquired 993 C2S.

He took the time out to come to my home and talk to me about his experience but also under...stand my needs and requirements too.

Having used other detailers in the past I immediately sensed the passion, commitment and process that Michael uses but also is OCD nature and attention to detail. This was again clearly evident during the week as my 911 was left at his state-of-the-art premises.

What makes him different is not just the detailing experience he offers but also the additional services such as smart repairs, wheels off cleaning, the use of premium products and lastly, the level of his communications.

His updates by phone and via photos on a daily and even hourly basis gave me the confidence and reassurance of his progress during the week.

Michael is simply the complete package. Impeccable attention to detail, passionately committed, highly skilled and a premier customer service that I have not had the pleasure of experiencing before. Yes - there are lots of detailers in the wider area but very few offer the package and quality Michael does.

My classic SL will be with him next month once out of storage and I look forward to using his expertise and services again.

K M Alam

Thanks for looking guys!

Kind Regards
Michael

Also sorry there is one photo I missed out and that was the door locks one I had finished cleaning them:(Note lacquer failure below lock from pooor paint finish)

Mike = Prince of Detail

Looks a very good job... Michael would you pm me with a cost for my SL....?

Trust me Mike is worth every penny. Once you see the before and after shots you will have to agree.

:thumb:

dont mean any disrespect but I am very curious to know how much this level of detailing costs?
Just to have an idea; so I know if and when I'd be able to afford that for my measly lil W211...

Oh I do agree, I want to get my car down to mike and discuss a few area's with him first as I think I need s smart repair or two to end up with a finish like yours... though I suspect my front bumper will be a dust over rather than a smart repair as it has too many chips..

Hi guys, thanks for looking, it's much appreciated:) I do not personally paint but I work closely with friends who one is a smart repair and the other is a painter. I'm very lucky that I have good friends who do this for a living and are very good. But to be fair all of there works is still flattened & polishes by myself as it needs to match up exactly with the rest of my work. But overall this can be a great service to offer as a lot my customers need some paint. So you can have your detailed and painted knowing that it will be a fantastic paint finish. As it has to meet my standards as I'm sure you will guess is pretty high.

Drop Mike a line and he will give you ball park figures. Prices will differ depending on condition and its best for Mike to assess the paint like he did for my 911.

cheers Kash!
