Generators and UPSes

Anyone have experience of successfully running UPSes off the portable, petrol generators?
Honda possibly...

Yes......I've worked in Nigeria !!! - We used 2 UPS's and a Onan. UPS1 being an old knacked one, just to sort out any major spikes.....UPS2 for the battery.

Yes, I do this every year as part of the Internet installation at the Archaeology dig that happens at Silchester. Getting the interweb to the middle of a field is always a fun task

APC SmartUPS SC 450VA attached to a decent quality petrol generator. This feeds an HP managed switch, Netgear wireless bridge, and a PoE WLAN access point.

Without the UPS in there, the generator used to make the switch reboot randomly.
