genuine looking w123

now that would be awsome, any known issues with doing that, springs, diff, prop length etc, I guess its all there on the 126 tho

watching this a few days now and considering taking it on looks very genuine and obviously a genuine reason for sale ie needs a gearbox, which happens to be one of the easiest to find.

Thanks for the link. :)

It looks a lovely car for very little money, but you will obviously need to budget for a replacement gearbox, or at least a repair.

I have a very soft spot for the W123. The first Mercedes I ever drove was a W123 300 Diesel that was three years old but had already covered 440,000 miles. After several long distance trips in it, during which I drove it twice, I came to the conclusion that there was probably no better long distance saloon car.

It took me another 20+ years to buy my first Mercedes, but the same feeling is there when I drive my W124 E300 Diesel.

Even though it should be a cheap buy, you should still look at the car before buying. I note that there are no pictures of the front seats, which always makes me suspect with any vehicle showing over 100,000 miles that there may be damage to the driver's seat bolster. You will also need to establish the extent of any rust.

It's a pleasant trip from Brighton along the A272 to Petersfield, then follow the A3 towards London and turn left on the B3006 for Alton.

Good luck if you decide to bid!

I rebuilt a 280 CE over the last 3 years which is sort of my show piece see here if you fancy a look http://groups.msn.com/W123Club/1978280cecompleterestoration.msnw of course another year on and another 3K and it is finished, I can do the box in a weekend and actually have one in stock from a car the same year which is a bonus, You are definately right about the seat that will be knackered but You can replace the back and squab from a passenger seat and get round it like that, just fancy replacing my tired and dull A6 2.5 tdi for another more frugal 123 and this one looks good will take a trip over to inspect the rust on mon if the seller permits quite exited really.

Given the lovely work on your CE, theres seems little reason not to buy the Saloon!

Cheers
