To anybody buying a genuine thermostat as I have in the last few days check it thoroughly as after putting mine all back together when I went to screw the bracket to the thermostat housing that holds the fuel pipe in place, I realised that the hole was there but there was no thread there I've put a thread in it myself now but I will be phoning Mercedes of Swansea on Monday to see what they have to say so anybody buying one TAKE A GOOD LOOK FIRST !!

IIRC I've seen it mentioned that's how they are now.

^^^ +1

I've seen mention of it too and mine was the same, (no thread) but if you use the bolt that you took out it will make it's own thread in the casting as you tighten it. Mine went in without problem.

As said above, using the old bolt taps it's own thread. I do agree that it shouldn't come like that though.

As all above..... quite normal, the bolt cuts its own thread

After market ones are inferior if they have the bolt hole pre threaded.

:)

Wahler is the best aftermarket thermostat, they also make them OEM for MB
