In Japan they drive on the left, so they have the same RHD controls as the UK. Did MB not sell RHD cars in Japan? If they did, then why is this one LHD?

LHD cars are a prestige thing in Japan.
That explains it - I suppose when I have seen Japanese imports before they have usually been W124 E500s, which were only LHD, so I had not realised.

There’s so many wannabe AMGs out there right now, not helped by Mercedes using those three letters to denote a trim level.

As always, the VIN is the key to everything, but I agree with the others, this looks very suspect.

"AMG wheels

AMG bodystyling

AMG exhaust

AMG interior logo"

Well, that's 10 out of 10 for tyring!

I'm wanting to know a general opinion, I used to have the C250 CDi AMG Sport, (long gone 5 years now), so loving the car and wanting a toy, found myself a lovely R172 SLK 250 CDi AMG Sport.. NOW, it has AMG trim, wheels all say AMG on them, AMG body styling... and out there I have seen these same cars showing the AMG Logo on the right of the boot, mine doesn't have that, it hasSLK250 one side and CDi on the right of it.

When did Mercedes decide to put the AMG logo on the none AMG engined cars? I have seen both the older logo, more often the newer version on them?
I'm getting there... I'd like to take the CDi off and replace it with the AMG logo, but only if there were stock cars going out with it on. Hate to be a Walter Mitty of the car world, some real AMG lovers really object to it...

If I do, I'd buy an original decal from Merc, rather than an aftermarket version. Thoughts please.

Hmmm I'm not convinced, I'm pretty sure during my time with the C250 2011-2016 I used to go to the MB dealer and am pretty sure i saw this on their showroom models, brand new so not owner stuck on's.. reading other posts app they say in 2014 they did this for a year, that does coincide in the times i had mine. Love to get clarity on it.

It's not an AMG, but you want to put an AMG badge on it. I wouldn't, but go for it if that's what pleases you.

That just about sums up my S204. But as a C180, there's no way it's an AMG. Maybe I should get the all important badge for the tailgate 🤔😛

Neither of our two AMG Line cars have nor have had an AMG badge, nor will. Come to think of it, nor has our AMG.

Entirely up to you, but why would you take a CDi badge off and replace it with an AMG badge?
Its is not, and never will be an AMG, so why pretend?:dk:

David R you car is not an AMG , It's a diesel . AMG made a diesel ...once , 2002 C30 CDI a 3 litre 5 cyl Turbo, it was not a success. Nothing wrong with your car , it's that it is just not an AMG.

In fact it could be argued my own 2006 V8 C55 AMG built in Bremen Germany is not a true AMG because MB had completely bought out AMG from the original founders before 2006.

lol... only burnt by true AMG owners :dk: Maybe I should keep the CDI on and put my plate on?
