Genuine W202 C36/C43 17' AMG Alloys

Oh yea, just only realised that as well. He certainly sells a lot of Dell laptops too

Professionally refurbished to retain the polished lip, that must have cost a fair bit !
http://

The lip has not been polished at all, lip has the same finish as the face, he refered to it as metallic sterling silver, this is infact the more cost effective way of doing things, but you are right if lip had been polished that would the cost a few more pennies....

Still looks an excellent refurb job regardless, deffinatly top notch

Work carried out looks stunning, & with the amount of wheels he has sold on ebay & still to have his feedback rating intact, im sure this is the case...

My thinking has always been that a set of AMG's look best with polished lips....

Couldnt agree more :D

I wonder where Nav gets these refurbs done from and what there charges are as they do a cracking job.

Yes, you are correct, the lip isn't polished.

From factory the wheels have a diamond cut lip which is then lacquered. To date i have not found a refurb company where the diamond cut lip lasts more than 6-12 months of regular use. You begin to see small patches of lacquer lift. For durability the wheels have been powder coated.

The other problem is that a wheel can only have the lips diamond cut twice. Any more than this will result in the metal being too thin and the wheel prone to buckling. This is a safety issue and hence the reason why i measure the thickness of the lips before purchasing wheels. This is why you have to take care when buying 2nd hand wheels.

The alternative is to have the lips polished and left unlacquered:

The downside with this is that they require regular cleaning and polishing with Autosol to maintain the shine.

If you have plenty of time to clean then these are the wheels for you:

I used to have every set painted with a diamond cut lip but these days you don't get a premium when selling. I do get the 18" 19" diamond cut as they sell for a premium. Also newer paints these days make the wheels look good without a polished lip.

I'm trialling some new custom finishes in powder coats, here's some wheels i've refurbed for the W202. Normally they are diamond cut, which i had redone 18 months ago, but he finish didn't last so i've gone down the painted route:

Blimey they already look as if they are diamond cut but infact are painted:bannana: . Thats very clever, would be even better if the lips could be done in this type of paint to give a diamond cut look and the face in the standard paint, my opinion anyway.

Can't be done. When you have a professional refurb done, the entire wheel is first prepared and then powder coated. When they powder coat, the entire face and lips are painted. You wouldn't be able to paint the lips seperately.

Oh, guess I learnt something new then

Some cheaper companies such as the mobile services are happy to use "wet paint" to repaint wheels. Wet paint is basically spray paint, doesn't last long at all. With wet paint you can mask up certain areas such as the face. I would not recommend anyone refurbs a wheel unless its powder coated.

wow... does look good nav..

do you actually have those 3 piece polished ones? I saw a set on an E500... they looked stunning!

OK slightly off topic, any more modding planned Nav?

Not on the SEC to be honest. I did look into superchargering, M119/M120 engine transplant etc but the costs would be £5k ish so nothing planned planned for the meantime.

I think i've got to the point where there isn't alot more that can be done to it. Any more just may push it to the OTT territory.

Its been parked up in the garage for a few months, been busy with other commitments so it hasn't been driven in a while.

Hi, sorry it's off topic, but do you know if it's possible to remove (either strip or sand back) the laquer from the diamond cut lips with any success? My wheels must have been refurbed by the dealer I bought my car from, as they were absolutely mint. Unfortunately, the laquer is now going cloudy/milky on the rear wheels. I love the diamond cut finish, but don't want to waste money having them refurbed if it won't last long. The centre (painted) areas are still mint. I don't mind having to polish the metal regularly.

You can with light sanding and then buffing with autosol. Rather than that i would have then polished to a mirror finish.

KLP, how much are you willing to take for these wheels?..I see there is no reserve, so will they go to the highest bidder or will you end auction if the figure you have in mind is not met?

I ask as a lot of sellers use this tactic of 'no reserve' so to get more interest & to get the punters excited...

As a buyer i know a reserve can put me off, even though i know of the above tactic!

I also ask as I will need a set of 17" AMG's to put on my Cabriolet... (Im also after a AMG Kit for her as I write this!)

How do think these will look on W124?

Hi Dee,

These wheels in normal silver colour with polished lips fetch well over £1000.

These ones should fetch a lot more than that..

Im sure KLP will add though..
