Anyone reckon you could chop one up and make a W124 avantgarde grille ?

No because he is only selling the classic style. His ad says not Avantgarde model.

I should learn to read as well as look at the pretty pictures really shouldn't i ?

They have two very similar pics on there, the thumbnail is avantgarde but the later pic is classic, the bottom pic is avantgarde again.

OEM avantgarde grills come without anything fitted AFAIK so howcome those are pre-assembled with chrome strips and frame?
