Hi

At the start of a long term project
Any advice on mild tuning for these?

I plan to make a SS exhaust as the current one is a bodged decat
Was going to use a free flow sport centre and backbox.
Too loud? Anyone done this?

Heard a rumour there is some merit in fitting the CLK55 air box
Is this true? What's the difference?
I do like induction roar, but the position is not ideal for a cone filter.

I'm not a boy racer, just prefer freeing up some V8 noise!
And will only use the car for a couple of thousand miles a year.

It's a naturally aspirated V8 (correct me if I'm wrong), so a free flowing exhaust will probably help a little; plus if you're after it, make a bit more noise.

In all honesty I'd rather the full stainless system on my Nissan didn't make quite as much noise as it does, so if you'd rather keep it quiet and stealthy make sure they put some decent boxes in.

Other than that, do you want to look at remapping?

I'm kinda after the "V8 coming through" exhaust note. Without scaring small children. Or getting arrested. The car will only be used for occasional driving pleasure, I'm not fussed about hearing Bieber on radio 1!
Looked at variable exhaust valves, my 3.2 Audi had one. That coked up though

I've heard the 430 doesn't map well.
Anyone got any experience with this?

I know you want to build your own exhaust but if you change your mind, I have a full exhaust for a 55 amg I'm looking to sell.

SS? Is it stock?
Is there some benefit to getting a 55 one?
