GL450 Remap

its probably been done to death but i cant find a thread on it sorry

got a 2011 GL450 going to use it for towing and yes its got plenty of get up and go im really happy and lets be honest you dnt buy a car like this if you are penny pinching

but im on the fence on the remap
more BHP
more Torque
better MPG

yes it does put a bit more strain on certain engine parts but im not going to be balls out in it but its nice to have it on tap

thoughts, ideas and suggestions on where NOT to go welcome

Have the same car in a ML (previously had a GL420). Added a Brabus box (believe referred to as D8).

Talked with some of the better "tuners" and ultimately decided on box for various internal reasons.

Personally, I would only go with either of the 3 usual suspects that are rated on this forum. Pricewise you will pay approx 33-50% more compared to others but at the end of the day this is a small premium, if anything should go wrong. Also ask over the gearbox reprogramming - supposed to make it booth smoother and quicker on changes

I do not tow but the car has ample torque in standard form but much more when enhanced. Never bothered with checking fuel/better MPG, as resigned to £100 fill ups.

never heard of box reprogramming either this is all new to me

who are the 3 tuners recommended on here as its a mine field

Remap done and dusted by my mate who owns unit 20 a Audi specialist in Chester and what a difference there are so many tuners who quote this and that but it wasnt until he explained in detail that i felt safe well worth it

Have you a number for him mate I am looking into having mine mapped. What did he charge? Is it a generic map?
