Afternoon all
Ive got a 2011 GL450 and its not got a happy gearbox but only when driving slow.

We have plugged in diagnostics and found 1 small fault U0100 but thats it and dont think its that tbh, it is as if the drive is lumpy when going slow almost as if it is missing so to speak when you put your foot down there is no problem at all we are thinking the gearbox needs a flush out and service

thoughts please

Well its well worth doing, just whats the mileage, has it been done before.

120k tbh i dont know i got a shed load of paperwork here and would need to sift through it

How can i find out what gearbox i have please

thanks pal i come up with the same so all good but unsure on the plus what it means
the service kit is about 140 with lots of tutorials on youtube so guess its time to get it ordered

thanks for your help

If you order the kit from M.B you will get the correct parts . MB Newcastle has an eBay page , you could ask them with your VIN number what parts you require , then order from wherever ;)

I had a juddery or vibrating issue at low speed. Thought it was a gearbox issue. Turned out to be a knackered engine mount.

just spoke to a local independent Mercedes Specialist fora quote on a gearbox service and was shocked at the price

so the genuine kit from Mercedes is £155.80 delivered from ebay off Mercedes Newcastle so i was expecting about £200 labour on top
how wrong was i £196.00 inc vat all done its not even worth getting your hands dirty for that kind of money 1 draw back is i have to leave the car there for a few hours as the box needs to be cold to start with

fair play its nice to have a specialist around who doesn't take the pi$$

Good stuff , that’s what I paid about 4 years ago at an Indy . Why does the box have to be cold ?

dont know why it needs to be cold tbh that is the only ball ache for me as i will need to be collected and returned but hey

They probably just need it to cool a bit so that it isn’t hotter than the surface of the sun when their fingers touch the sump
