SLK, E350 Cab., several C-Class, all retired now. Currently 2024 GLA 200 AMG Line Premium Plus
My car, 2024 GLA200 seems particularly noisy inside this last couple of months. Some tyre noise depending on road surface but mostly wind noise, with near side seeming noisier.
There are comments about noise on various Fb pages.

As yet I haven’t determined where the noise comes from but looking at the door seals today on a cold wet day it does seem that MB have scrimped on door seals with some of them clearly only mating with their opposite number by less than 1mm. That may not be the problem because there are gaps between various panels that on many cars would be sealed.

Just wondering if other GLA owners on here have noticed the same and found solutions?

39 views on this but no comments, interesting!
I know there are comments about wind noise on other forums.
Bumped into a friend who owns a local car repair shop today and had another look.
Lower sections of rear doors show some ingress of dirt past seals, all door seals are in good condition but have virtually no substance to them.
All door seals seem to be like miniature deflated bicycle inner tubes (hollow but almost flat to the touch).
Hard to see how they provide any help once road speed builds up.

I get wind noise in my car too, but that’s mostly when I’ve had beans, seriously though, there’s an old trick, where you push a length of small rubber tube inside the tubular part of the seal, which re inflates the fat part of the seal, so to speak.

Yes I’ve read about that. Lots of concerns though that if you use the wrong type of rubber/nylon/silicon tube it can harden with age or even cold weather and give you more problems.

A 2024 car is still under warranty so why are you not taking it to the MB dealer with this problem?

It’s already booked in with Dealer early March (annual service + problems).
That’s not the point, this forum has an excellent record of advice and problem sharing so it’s good to listen to the experiences of other members before accepting what a dealer may say.
Trawling through other forums worldwide it’s clear that some owners have experimented with remedies but no real success.. additional rubber strips on doors, various deflection things on mirrors, even household carpet under the normal car mats and boot lining.
Having investigated more today I suspect the problem though is just a lack of insulation or noise deadening within body panels and wheel arches.
Keith, out of interest what year is your GLA? It’s clear a lot of changes were made to 2024 models.

Our GLA is 2017, so the previous generation

Keith, thanks for that. Model changed of course in 2020 but then something seemed to happen in 2024. I think the 2024 models went through a number of almost ‘under the counter’ changes which have been picked up by other owners. The reversing camera stupidness is one example, others are the abundance of new ‘safety’ features on these cars. No idea about insulation of course. Every day is a learning day.

Haven’t noticed an excessive wind noise problem in mine. Have you checked for dislodged door or pillar seals?

What I have noticed though on mine is it has a ( barely audible) chain rattle from the engine bay when accelerating up to 30mph. Does yours have this too? Really hard to hear but I notice it every time I drive now.

Really (really) obvious one

Are all the windows closed?
And if yes, have they made a good seal?

Another a 'vape vents' (but you don't have them?)
