I have an issue with the rear driver side tyre and not sure if there are any boffins on here who can help figure out what is going on. I need to take the vehicle back again for the 5th!!!! time since buying a month ago. Excuse the long explanation but it is just to give background and info.

I bought the 2018 GLC Coupe on 16/03/21 and on picking up I noticed the rear tyre looked flat so they inflated it.
A week later the tyre sensor light came on so took back. They couldn't find a leak so re-inflated.
A week after that the light came on again so this time they decided to replace both rear tyres as they had cracks.
You guessed it less than a week later the light came on again. Was told they tested tyres twice, there is no slow puncture and sensor is working fine. They cannot find a fault.
Then yesterday again literally 5 days later the light came on so it's been rebooked.

But I really doubt they will figure out what is going on because the sensors are fine and the tyre has no leak according to their check last week.

This is beyond frustrating as I absolutely love this car. But it's not normal for the same tyre to keep deflating?!?! I don't understand what can cause this issue. And as mentioned it's already had a new tyre.

To a certain degree one could say just inflate it but too be honest I paid £33K for it and shouldn't have to inflate the rear tyre once a week. It's come to the point where I'm wondering if I should hand the keys back and ask for a refund. But I have never been so excited or happy about a car before and I think I might just cry if that has too happen

How can they not figure out why this is happening? Can anybody think of any explanation why just the one rear tyre would keep deflating?

Somebody mentioned a possible alloy issue?

Please help

Main dealer? Stop taking it back to them. Take it to wheel specialist and have them inspect it.
Hand the bill to the dealer or if it's something like a bead/rim issue or porous alloy, then get them to refurb/replace the wheel at their cost.

I would suspect that the wheel is cracked...get them to replace the alloy wheel under warranty. Do you have particularly low-profile wheels as they can be subject to cracking when transversing speed bumps or simply due to hitting serious road imperfections.

Thanks for the quick response. I think I might have to do that. My husband suggested I ask them to switch the back alloys round to see if it's the alloys because them presumably the other side will start throwing up the warning

as above , maybe the rim is cracked , or did they replace the valve , maybe that’s leaking .

No, my tyres are fairly big. But since posting this issue everybody is suggesting the alloys could be the problem. I think my best course of action will be to ask them why they haven't checked the alloys yet. But I guess they are expensive and they are trying to maybe fob me off a bit

There has been a lot on this subject of crabbing , I believe the solution is simply put winter tyres on because of the softer compound (maybe all seasons will do )
It's not a crabbing issue

If they find a crack, don't accept a weld as a repair!

Has to be the alloy, new tyre and valve I assume so rule them out. Ignore the sensor and what it says.
If it's lost air then it's down regardless of what the sensor says. Check with a quality gauge or if it's like a pancake then you already know :)

@ernie on a side note if they say they will just seal up the rims is that ok? Or should I just insist on new rims if the alloys are the issue?

No chance, you pointed it out on pick up. Clearly a fault. Sealing it will be a short term fix. If it is cracked and you hit another pot hole its prob only gonna get worse.

As said above, only new rims will effect a proper and permanent repair. You may need to be insistent!
