Into my last 2 weeks in Russia and I'm noticing Mercedes everwhere! 2 GLKs today, one badged as a "Lorinsser" with a fairly tasteful kit and large pipes and wheels in a dark metallic red, looked pretty good. Does look quite angular in real life, but definately stands out in a crowd!

Plenty of W211s here and I'm noticing a variety of wheel designs and sizes to compare ready for my wheel change when I get back! Convinced now that 16" is too small for this large car and although I'm not going for the 19s I keep seeing here, I think a set of 17s or even 18s will suit the car nicely. Strangely, I still like the Rucha design, so maybe a straight swap to 17 ruchas might do the job, or the Mandrus Milleniums in 17 or 18? We'll see in 2 weeks! :)

I have to say, I'm looking forward now to our nice smooth roads, fairly sane driving standards and using my MB and Saab again! My little Nissan is a good car for here, but does lack a little in the dynamic and comfort field! :D Seen some nice cars to change it for, but that can wait 'till next year now.

Just a quiick thought, are there likely to be any GTGs in November?

HAHA! Feels like it sometimes! No, just since mid July. We go every year for the summer. I first went to Russia oddly enough in 1982 for a quick trip, but then not again 'till Feb 2001 after I met my wife. And yes, compared to Russian driving standards and road conditions, the UK is heaven, despite the known problems such as frequent crashes on the M1 near where I live! D)

Some of the drivers that have picked me up/delivered me to various airports, hotels in Russia (and Poland) etc really went like crazy.

Never forget one time, landed at Moscow Domodedovo at 5am (BA flight) and the rain was just heaving. On waterfilled motorways and raining, albeit empty roads, he drove at speeds exceeding 170 km/h which forced me having to tell him to slow down!

One taxidriver in Poland, with an 80's E class did over 180 km/h (112+ mph) on a country lane....... crazy!
