Glow plug cylinder 2N14/2 advice e280cdi 2005 s211

Recently had a diagnostic test and this fault came up cylinder 2, took it to a local garage who advertise they work on MB cars, but they refused to change the plug stating they would need specialist equipment to remap ECU
Is this correct because reading the forum's here people have changed them diy basis
Any advice how to go
