Glow plug relay e350cdi 2010

The piggy tail light for the glow plug light, comes on whilst driving, once started it stays on for 10 seconds or so and does flash every couple of minutes , is this a known issue on the v6 diesel ? I'm sure it must be the glow plug relay, we're is it?
Any help would be appreciated

exact thing happened to me.

new relay cost about £120 but the main dealer got a good £380 out of me

Bought new relay, solved problem main dealer says they sell lots of these relays, and offered discount for my inconvenience only takes 10min . Built in throw away world at its best !

Where is the relay located? I assume you swapped it out yourself?

Hi Mark, lift the plastic engine cover, right at the front top of the engine, there is a breather or something to the left, the relay is mounted on a small bracket, took only 10 mins, would suggest you use a magnet to stop screws from dropping into the engine lower cover, under the engine.
