Hi my engine light came on a couple of days ago (CLS320CDI 2006) after plugging into a friends very expensive program it shows problerms with differential pressure sensor, number 6 cylinder glow plug and upstream lambda sensor. I plan to change these items myself but my questions are:-
1. do I buy MB parts or aftermarket from a local motor factors
2. how are the cylenders numbered to find number 6
3. I am assuming there are 2 upstream lambda sensors (one on each side) is there a way I can tell which one is defective

thanks in advance for any help

Your pals diagnostic tool may or may not be telling the truth, were it me I'd find a local Indie with a STAR machine and ask them to run a check to get a definitive result.

ok I have had the diagnostics on a star at indie workshop and they confirmed DPF pressure sensor. now I see the sensor itself is a cheap part to replace but would welcome any input on how easy/difficult it is to do, thanks

The glow plugs are a different matter & prone to snapping off in the head, I'd let the indie take it on

Dave

number 6 is one the right of the engine looking at it from the front it is the one nearest the bulkhead, they number 1,2,3 left side from radiator 4,5,6 on the right side from the radiator.

Well I had the DPF sensor changed in August and all has been well so far, I have ensured to give the car a good run on motorway at full temperature in an effort to burn off any crud from the filter at regular intervals and now hope it will keep out of the dreaded limp mode

I changed quite a few parts on my E320CDi 2008 model. I bought everything on eBay. All worked fine and saved me a fortune.
Buying OEM depends on how much money you want to spend!![emoji848]

Update on this post:- I had the DPF sensor replaced just over 12 months ago, never got around to the glow plug or O2 sensor, the EML came on about 6 months ago and went back into the dreaded limp mode. I had my mate diagnostics on it and showed glow plug, O2 sensor and air leak on DPF sensor then a couple of weeks ago the ABS and ESP lights came on and the steering was as if servo was U/S so I took it to a local garage that I had gotten to know and left it with him, he rang the next day saying that a speed sensor and sensor disc were showing faults as were still the glow plugs and DPF air leak and O2 sensor and the offside front spring had broken and fallen over the shock absorber. I asked him just to try and sort it all for me which he did and I collected it tonight with all parts renewed including 6 glow plugs and the bill was a very reasonable £460. I tentatively left the forecourt and set off home and I smiled all the way, how nice to have the lost power back at last :)
