Hi all
well, the car went to Mercedes Leicester on Wednesday as arranged and I got a call on Thursday afternoon they called and told me the car was ready for collection.
They had done a diagnostic and a health check on the car and came up with many faults but still had no definite answer as to why the car has starting problems.
They mentioned the bodge the previous owner had done where a rod was wedged in beside one of the fuel pipe and assumed this was the cause of fuel pressure issue. This may be but the mobile independent MB specialist who initially looked at the car said this wasn't the cause as he could see no air bubbles. I asked MB Leicester if they checked the fuel pressure but they hadn't, they just said to change the fuel pipes and the air filter and then recheck!
For proper maintenance I did get new filter this weekend and when I went to change the air filter I found that no air filter was even fitted, so how a non existent air filter can be blocked is beyond me, but at least now the car ha a new clean air filter fitted.
I will get the fuel pipes changed this week and will see if it makes any difference to the starting.
The car had started quite well the last week, but today in the colder damper conditions it took 10 minutes to start.
The other reported faults are mainly suspension issues which I will deal with in separate threads.
Thanks
Chris
