Hi guys,
had my e 300 td.to garage to fit new glow plugs.
garage said no.1 was seized up and no.5 was turning,
so they fitted the rest and said it was not worth bothering
with other two because of age of car.
no manual so would like to have a look myself.
is it a big job taking inlet manifold off to have a go.

To take the manifold out is not too bad.
You need to unscrew all the bolts on the head.
Remove the little clamp on the EGR pipe, just under the manifold, its a 10mm bolt.
the tricky ish one is a 5mm Allen bolt that attached the manifold tube( just under the EGR) to a clamp. For this you need to go under the car as its the only access :(

The glow plugs are a different story, they are known to be tricky and will require a lot of patience and anti-seize spray...

I hope the garage didn't rip you off with a half job...

thanks for that Olivier, no they are a pretty decent lot, will try your suggestion.
regards,
Will.

You more then welcome. I am surprise no other replied as I am sure there must be something else to add...
Anyway good luck and keep us posted :)
Olivier
