So my icarsoft, sometimes shows glow plug 1 open circuit, clear then after few days shows 3 and 4, clear back to 1 , now stuck on 3 and 4, car starts ok, called my local Indi for replacement they said they wont work on glow plugs for my car

What I find odd is changing readings

Any ideas

THANKS

And then they maybe not.
Possibly in the past they have broken off glow plugs at their detrimental cost to put it "right". Its easy to do, ( break them off that is) and the risks involved .
Then there's the shop experience level, and associated skills acquired or learned techniques which may not be available to that shop plus of course do they have the extraction tooling and basic machine shop knowledge to cut them out should they break. Hence the reason the OP got the Cross of Dracula sign!
You could start by spaying something like Plus gas "caramba" ,or Kroil (my preferred) into the glow plug pockets and run the car for a week or so frequently topping off the level dwelling around the plug. The fluid will penetrate around the threads making extraction easier.

Many thanks, but after the trials of just changing an alternator overrun pulley and belt and the effect on my hands ( medical condition), this task I think I would like to leave to a garage, I cant even see glow plugs as they at back of engine.

I kind of get where local indi coming from as they not a merc specialist and why I like to attempt to fix everything my self, the potential for anything to go wrong seams very high. I cant even see them let alone test them

Back to issue

What has got me is the changing open circuits fault on my icarsoft ? that ive notice over a few months

some time its glow plug 1, sometimes 3 and 4 back to 1 now on 3 and 4

to me if its faulty it would stay broken? which suggest another issue possibly electrical

car runs and starts fine , no warning lights ect, the only way I knew maybe an issue was from time to time scan all sections with my icarsoft only error I find are on glow plugs

Many Thanks

No thats normal; happened in my CLK with the glow plugs. Several banks would always remain on, and a few others would be temperamental. Ended up changing all six and was fine afterwards :)
