Was driving down the M1 last fri when the glowplug light popped on, 10 mins later went out, following morning started car and it ran like a bag of nails for about 20 secs then all ok. Took it straight to my indie who plugged it in and came up with relay fault. luckily he always keeps one in stock as quite a common failure. All was fine this week then this morning did it again. Car starts on the button glowplug light comes on goes out couple of secs later but when it starts feels like it only running on 3 cylinders. Turned it off and went to start again but it would;nt catch, came up with ESP Failure and EML came on, left it 30 seconds and it started straight away with glowplug light on and EML still on. Had to do a 100 mile journey this morning mostly quiet M25 and it averaged 37 mpg so all ok, the glow pluglight did go out only to flash on for about 2 mins on journey.
Took it staright to Indie on return and it now showing no 2 glowplug open circuit so looks like a glowplug change. Surprised that it runs so rough on cold start up with 5 glowplugs still working and it not cold. Any ideas anyone.
