It’s winter, the time your battery usually decides to shuffle off.

To make life easy for yourself, go out and check you can open your bootlid (if the battery is in there).
with the key blade. If not, get your wd40, graphite etc and spend time now - when you aren’t up against the clock, to free it up.

Same with your door locks, - ensure you can get in with the key blade (to open bonnet if battery is in engine bay)

we tend not to use the key blade from year to year, so the locks seize- prolonged wiggling & squirting will usually free it up.
At that point make it a habit to try the key at least a couple of times a year, and another squirt of graphite.

Good advice.

Also a good reminder to charge ot condition the battery. I dread to think how many batteries get replaced prematurely at this time of year.

I'd recommend

I also recommend next time you visit dealership.
You should buy the plastic bootlock covers for each lock.
Covers prevent grime entering you cylinder locks.

Noogieman - Are these covers specific for a particular model? They sound like an excellent idea - can you help with a part number please for my R230?

Further research suggests the part number could be A210 766 0056; is this correct please?

I'm interested in the Innotec Deblock Oil XS but wonder how it compares to say PlusGas, WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant or WD40 Specialist Fast Release Penetrant spray?

These caps fits all MB locks.
Just plug it into the lock.

Sorry I don't have the partsnumber.
At dealership you give partguy your VIN and he will order 2 two covers for you

MB bootlocks are notorius to seize up, when you need to access boot if your has battery failed you will have a hard time unlocking with our blade key, that's from years of grime entering cylinder lock 👎

Many thanks Noogieman

I have confirmed that the part number is A210 766 0056 @ £2.16 each & have ordered from my local MB Dealer.

I've replaced six batteries so far. I expect i'll be needing more
But you're in Texas. Everyone knows it's hot and sunny in Texas !

Well, it used to be....

Climate change.

With hailstones as big as golf balls, I’m surprised that anyone is actually parking on the street
