going to view a clk 2.7 cdi and was wondering if anyone has any advice on what to look out for.
a 2003 1 owner with fsh. good spec with command and few other things.
any advice appreceiated as i know very little about these
thanks

Rust, valeo radiators (get a glycol test on the ATF as sometimes coolant leaks from the rad into the box). Rust, rust and check around the injectors in the unlikely event there is a leak. Nice strong cars/

thanks for that.
what is a glycol test?

Decent mechanic will take a tiny sample of the ATF and test it for gycol which is found in engine coolant

nice one, if i get it will make sure i get it done. do these suffer problems with injector seals like the 2.2 does

What mileage has the engine done?
I have owned 2 cars with this engine and neither has missed a beat..
On my second I have performed the EGR shunt mod which I rate very highly.
Swirl flap problems are related to the EGR valve being left as standard..
Basically the EGR valve allows the engine to breath a percentage of its own sooty exhaust..The sooty exhaust mixes with the oil mist that is present in the crancase breather system..
This forms a black sticky Tar like substance which coats the inside of the inlet passages (where the swirl flap lives).. This puts a strain on the movement of the swirl flap and eventually causes the lincages to come apart of the swirl flap motor to fail due to overload..

I would suggest the EGR shunt mod on your engine as a preventative measure..

Want to see and EGR with only 40,000 miles on it?
1st photo below photo of mine before it was cleaned and before I had done the shunt mod..
Remember all the cr*p will be coating ALL of the inlet passages !!!

2nd phot is after it had been cleaned..
Cleaning is a difficult, labour intensive and filthy job !!!

If the engine has had regular oil changes then 100k is nothing to cause alarm..
These engines are amongst the best Diesels that Mercedes made.
Couple this with the legendary 5 speed gearbox...

Oh on the subject of the gearboxes..Please, Please put some money aside to have the ATF Auto Transmission Fluid) and the filter changed...

NO ITS NOT SEALED FOR LIFE !!!!
Every 40k if you are mechanically sympathetic.
Every 40k even if you arent !!:D
