S211 Sprinter 213CDI, & the new T-class
I have just had a quick search and could not find a specific thread so thought it a good idea to start one. (Shude will no doubt find one straight away)

My 'stretched limo' has just been returned with a new high end heavy duty battery.

The van :( is just under three years old and being a commercial vehicle I was not sure if it qualified for the three year warranty. (I believe that Mercedes-Benz now offer this on all their small commercial vehicles)

We do not use the vehicle very much and this Christmas the battery started loosing its charge.

Commercial Motors South-West, Mercedes-Benz Main Dealers based at Exeter collected my vehicle this morning, left us a courtesy van?? and then this afternoon dropped my van off with new battery and various spare fuses.

No hassle, no problems with 'consumables' or comments about the conversion work or low mileage. (5000 miles in three years)

I am certainly NOT a big spender with this company and one Sprinter van is pretty 'small potatoes' in the commercial world, so they have nothing to gain by trying to impress me.

I am delighted with the service and would like to let folks know there are good dealers out there.

I have read the thread about the Brabus dealership and it is so refreshing to read about the good experiences.

Regards to you all,
John

Have to same the same about MB Canary Wharf. Got my car back after a B service yesterday, dropped off in the morning and picked up on the way home. They called in the morning to highlight faults that they found (rather than fixing and telling me later, yes it has happened to me before!) car washed and hoovered inside before I picked it up. The only downside is that my pockets are now £522 lighter!

Mercedes-Benz South-West Exeter

Just got the car back from the dealers. It was collected first thing yesterday for a number of 'upgrades'. Which to me is just another name for modification. I had also mentioned the seats loosing their memory (a bit like me) and the folding mirrors have failed to opened three times in the last six months.

The car was due to be returned last night, but during the afternoon I was informed they needed some new parts which would not be in until this morning. This afternoon I received another call saying the car was finished and would it be convienant if a driver returned at about 5pm.

They car arrived at 5-15pm having had a new modified kit fitted for the folding mirrors. An upgraded Master Memory Module for both front seats and a new air pipe going from the compressor to the front drivers seat. The car had also been valetted.

So all credit to the dealer for listening to my 'moans' and carrying out work in an attempt to cure the problems. (only time will tell if they are fixed)

I could not have asked for better service and they deserve a little mention on my thread. :bannana:

John i fail to see why this deserves a mention really as I would say this is the kind of service we should receive all the time, if somebody spends a few quid or wads of dosh we should expect the same customer service,I personally don;t feel that this experience was anything but how it should be, so many times they fall short of the mark, but then again for Mercedes Benz to pull this job off was remarkable and we should thank our lucky stars and give them a pat on the back for doing their job and nothing else.. ;) I mean not cocking it up :D

Hi Mark,
I thought it deserves a mention because of:

a) I am a member of another group which specialises in the E-class 211 and a few individuals World -wide have been getting problems with the electrics of this vehicle and the dealer is either saying "Nothing is wrong Sir" or they have reset the memory and everything shoud be okay. This dealer has made a brilliant effort and hopefully my problems are solved, and if they have I will pass the information on.

b) I live about an hours travelling time from the dealer, they have collected my vehicle, left a brand new E-class for the duration of the repair and when returning my own vehicle it has been valetted. That again is what my old dealer used to do, but they were only 6 miles away.

Now I accept that we ought to get this type of service, but when you read through numerous threads you will find lots of complaints about rubbish dealers and just the odd one or two refer to receiving satisfactory, or good service.

I think Mercedes-Benz produce excellent vehicles and I am proud to own one. (two) It saddens me to read of folks bad experiences and anyone browsing this forum might get perhaps a false impression if they only read bad reports.

It has been alleged that we British are developing an atitude of perhaps becoming a 'whinging nation, I personally do not accept this and will ALWAYS recognise both the good as well as the bad service.

So, Yes I totally agree we 'should' get this service, and by pointing out what a certain dealership does other members can now say, right I am not going to accept anything less from my own dealership!

I hope I have explained myself, and please understand that I totally understand what you are saying.

Regards,
John

John I agree with you whole heartedly and because of forums like this and specific model forums, the dealers can not pull the wool over our eyes and if I where Mercedes Benz I would have someone scouring these sites to find out what exactly is going wrong with their customer service, the problem is ....great product...selling its self ...to people who like the best ..I think the Mercedes experience could greatly be improved upon....by employing people with a passion for the brand and customer service

I will be interested to know how this goes as my drivers one has failed to open a few times and I have had to fold and open them manually a few times to get it out again.

a new air pipe going from the compressor to the front drivers seat.
I don't suppose this problem showed up as an occasional squeak, a bit like a bad note on a saxophone?

Hi Ady,
Funny you should say that! Occasionally yes and other times I would describe it as more like the old two tones of emegency vehicles.

If you have the dynamic seat option the first time we had the noise a technician found a kinked air pipe behind the nearside rear panel. You will have to take off the plastic panel, and then the black insulation panelling to find the pipes. I actually have a picture somewhere of the piping if you are interested?

My mirrors only failed once every other month or so, and there is no way it would do it in the presence of the dealer.

John

I've used MB Exeter and Plymouth....That's why we pick up our new Honda in March! ;)

Hi Janner,
I understand exactly where your coming from.

The bad news is that Mercedes-Benz South-West is 'owned' by City Motor Holdings

They own ALL the Mercedes Dealerships in the whole of the South-West and also these dealerships in other parts of the country....

Chrysler (Jeep)
Suzuki
Ford
Puegeot
Citreon
Vauxhall
Mercedes-Benz
Smart
Honda
Mitsubishi
MG Rover
City Accident Repair
Viking Accident Repair

Did you notice Honda?

Best nip down to your local dealer before this horrible organisation takes over.

I was lucky when I purchased my vehicle. I dealt with our old Coverdale Sales Manager who transferred from the South Devon franchise (which closed) up to Exeter. Mistakes were made during the purchase, but my wife and I were treated in a manner we had grown accustomed to when dealing with our previous dealer.

Good luck with the Honda,
John

I'm keeping the W124. The new CRV is for my wife.
The level of service and customer care is fantastic at Honda at utter cr@p at MB. No way will I ever buy a new MB until this changes.

I have 'bumped' this thread because it would be nice if we could put some more good dealers onto it.

Regards,
John

I would still Recommend the two Dealers in Derby. Plenty of experience of Both and nothing but Praise.

MB Derby on Pride Park

Mertrux Derby

I still rate MB Bath, even though they are now part of the Sytner Group and not independently owned. The service personnel still seem to be the same, the customer service still seems to be as good, and the quality of workmanship has remained fine.

Just hope all that continues when they move out of Bath city centre to new premises which I'll no longer be able to reach via a pleasant canal-side walk.

Western Mercedes-Benz in Edinburgh have always been excellent for me - both before and after they took my money. That includes the services guys who have always gone the extra mile for me. I get my new car from MB in Hertford on Friday and, so far, the sales experience has been first class.

I bought my car from small garage in Dorchester and the garage was super, but all the garages in London where i live that i'v used are terrible. Think it's like the rest of life in London, it's become a sh*t hole dump most of it. Laugh is it hasn't even become cheap due to becoming such a dump. Become a dump and gone up in price amazing.
