Hi Guys

Just wanted to comment on the great after sales service I have received from The Sandown Guildford Dealership. There were a few niggles that I wanted to get sorted and the dealership had no hesitation on footing the bill and allowed me to take the car to my Independent Mercedes dealer rather than go through the warranty process, they even paid for new wiperblades that cost over £100 thanks to Paul Walter. I would have no hesitation in recommending this dealership to anyone.

Quite a few Forum members take there cars there even when it was Purslows and always had good service.

Did you buy the car with the niggles from the same dealership as fixed them? If so, then that’s why the dealer paid the bill rather than the warranty provider - they can’t rightfully claim for faults which were known or could reasonably known at the point of sale, fixing those is the responsibility of the dealer who sold it.

Looking at it from a different perspective, someone could say it was absolutely shocking that the dealer who sold the car left it to see whether the customer complained before fixing faults which they should have resolved before sale, but they chances it to maximise profits at the expense of the customer.

Cynical, Bobby, I'd like to think that wasn't true. In this case anyway. :)

£100 for wiper blades, must be genuine amg items.
That price is outrageous when you can probably go down to Halfords and get OEM Bosch ones for around a quarter of that price ; and Halfords won't be the cheapest place . You can probably buy genuine Bosch blades on eBay cheaper and with free delivery .

Edit - I just looked , using my W140 as an example , and while there are people asking stupid prices , I can get genuine Bosch blades for as little as £8.50 with free delivery ; my car has standard blades , but some are offering these flat ones which I don't fancy much .

MERCEDES S420 W140 4.2 Wiper Blade 93 to 98 M119.971 Windscreen Genuine Bosch 4047024561380 | eBay

Oddly , the dealerships used to be by far the cheapest since they would sell you the loose rubbers to put into your existing blades - when I bought them for 123s and 124s etc the rubbers were just a couple of pounds , but you had then the faff of fitting them .

The blades on my R231 are approx £100 a set but the car has "magic vision" where the blades are not only heated but have holes in them too for the washer function. No aftermarket blades available yet :(

Thanks for that, Mercedes blades are normally about £30 to £40.

Mine too so i don't go out when it's raining :D

Bought my used S500 from Sandown at Guildford back in February, I was also very pleased with the service and after sales as well.
I also have the " Magic Vision " wiper blades as mentioned above and I also had found out online that the blades are very clever and very expensive .
