Having owned my 2004 E55k for a few years now I want to start on a positive and say that as a main dealer Hughes in Aylesbury Bucks were superb in looking after my car during the time I had it in the UK they see a lot of AMG models go through there and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to you guys on the forum here.

And now to my gripe and reason for posting.... I moved to County Limerick a year ago and the service here from the local MB main dealer has been nothing short of absolute rubbish. There are three MB service garages within one hours drive and I am reluctant to try any of them based on initial experiences. My beast did go into to one of them for a service, replacement alternator 2 months ago and the whole job of dealing with them was painful. I don't mind a drive but I need to find a specialist who knows what they are doing and what these cars are about. I know there are a few AMG's in NI and that might even be an option I would consider if the service was going to be worth the drive up country.

Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

Give these guys a ring, worth a phone call I'd reckon.

They resolved an issue on a Merc belonging to friend mine who was holidaying in Ireland after a main dealer and so called Merc specialist failed. They saved his driving holiday from being a disaster, resolved the problem properly and quickly too.

I have never used them but I have heard very good things about them. I have a friend in Kerry that used them for BMW issues and they were very good. Worth a look.

And if you ever decide to sell the beast drop me a PM. I am on the look out for a E55k

Also, I know Michael Moore very well and if you have no joy I can have a chat with him about an AMG tech.

Worst, worst case go to MB Agnews in Belfast & portadown. I believe they have an AMG engineer.

Thanks guys

On Friday I just had such a big argument with the dealer the car was in with after having the same fault return with 8weeks of it being supposedly sorted out with a replacement Alternator. Think the dealer saw the AMG badge and decided he was going to try and take me to the cleaners. Still I collected the car back from them last week and refused to pay them. They told me that had done some diagnostics but they were refusing to provide any such reports to show that they had actually done anything.

Cheers for the responses. I think my neighbour told me about the Bavarian BMW guys, my previous dealer in the UK tracked down another indie, so now I have some options. Much appreciated.

if I do ever decide to sell I will PM you but I'm hoping to keep hold of this one. I do struggle to justify the costs to the wife when it goes wrong but it's worth it. Not that all AMG's aren't great cars but the E55k is an outstanding example of them at their best...... one of AMG's finest I reckon....
