Hi All
Warned by my mate who is a car dealer about what the EU want to do about diesel cars,
Diesel car drivers 'betrayed' as EU cracks down on Britain over air pollution

As Britain is sued by the European Commission for breaching pollution limits, drivers of diesel motor vehicles are warned that they face higher costs

Look on the internet for the full picture.

As pointed out previously this problem has been flagged as coming for years and successive UK governments have stuck their heads in the sand. The technology for reducing NOx has been available for years to make Diesels Euro 6 compliant and adds very little to the price of a car. You might ask why the UK government has ignored this until now. Perhaps if they didn't listen so much to the automobile manufacturer lobby rather than concerning themselves with the health of their citizens we would not be in this sorry position.

is there also the impact of shipping moving from heavy oil to lighter diesel fuels that will have an impact on prices as diesel will be in shorter supply. Or is that just an urban myth or just the petrol companies not reacting fast enough to increase supply so the prices go up?

Happy to drive an all petrol fleet, save the tractors (new appeal) that can run on red diesel

Diesel engines are becoming so much more efficient that the emissions problem is steadily being reduced. The fact that the government penalises drivers with high emissions vehicles is ensuring this. Had a walk round a car park recently looking at tax discs, and got some funny looks although you will not be able to do this for much longer as they are no longer displayed, a new Ford Mondeo was £204 and a Peugeot 107 was nil our Viano currently stands at £485.
