I am looking at a E55 AMG (W211) EState during the week, 05 plate, 98k, silver, most options but excluding sat nav, FSH and looks to be in very good condition.

Price is 10.5k which I am told is firm.

Do you guys think this is a OK price?

Is it the one with LPG?

I know that it started at about £15k and has dropped like a stone since then.

The lack of comand in an E55 is almost unheard of and I think that's what's affecting the price. You need to find out a bit more about the LPG conversion (how old/maintenance costs etc) because I'd be slightly concerned that someone has messed with eight AMG cylinders.

I'm sure if you waved £10k under the sellers nose, they'd be foolish to turn it down.

The deal would be to get the car looked over first to make sure all is OK before I parted with the money.

10kish if the car is running right, do you think that would be a good price?

    Appreciate your input :)

    No bother.

I think, besides the COMAND being amiss, it's a bargain.:thumb:

Is it close to where you live?

It about 3hrs away from me so not to bad, not fussed about the Nav as I don't really use it. However I hopt the sound system in general is up to scratch. My only worry is if it has paddles to shift up and down. I could not stand the auto system in my old E320cdi.

The LPG does appeal to me but like you said as long as it's been setup correctly. I am hoping it's one of these at use LPG under say 5k and switches to fuel anything over.

It may have paddles but they are in addition to the tip gearstick, not instead of.

Not that I'm overly sceptical, but most AMG ads major on the engine bay shot and it's got no badges and no side vents in the front bumper (though I don't know if they all do).

I'm surprised about the lack of nav too :dk:.

Actually, perhaps I am overly sceptical but I hope it's not someone's garage creation......

Got the Vin no, reg no, mot numbers etc. All match up and confirmed. I think you can have all the badges removed as a option as not all the E55 AMGs have the badges. As for the vents on the front, do you not mean the E63 AMG?

I'm glad it all checks out :thumb:.

There's a lot of odd goings on in the 2nd hand car market.

    Hey

The E55 have dropped in price, I have seen many E55s without sat nav.
Make sure the gas system is in good working order.

    It's a bargain !

Is there any specific reason that you have chosen an E55 with LPG and not a E320 CDi if fuel costs are a concern?

Hated my old E320 cdi due to the power delivery + I have a 550bhp Track car which I use so ideally want something with a bit of poke to use during the week with the option of gas.

I do 70 miles per day on the Motorway so I assumed the above car would sit at 80 comfortably on gas.

Was that the IL6 or the V6?

You might want to look at the mpg figures on the LPG a bit more closely, coupled with the extra maintainence, it may not be all it seems.

Don't forget LPG burns quicker so say if you got 15-20 mpg out of the E55 on petrol, LPG is how much to buy a gallon now? Is it about £3.80? And it burns at *I think* 2/3 petrol.

    was a W211 on a 53 plate.

Yes I realise you lose a few mpg on Gas due to it combusting quicker but I don't really mind.

Shame there is not a few people on here who have converted to get a true account of how they rate LPG.

Could be worth trying the V6 CDi and see if you think it's any better? I've had both the IL6 and the V6 and they are miles apart in my opinion. The V6 is a lot more refined and you it feels a lot quicker than the old 6cylindet which is what you had.

TPWUK converted a Range Rover and Ian (Flania1) knows a fair bit about LPG conversions iirc. Might be worth getting in touch with them.

I would be wary that it would run right on LPG?, not many have been converted yet.
