Where's the best place to get a good socket set from? Mine is tired out and needs throwing out. Clarke? Halfords?

Halfords pro range is excellent value and comes with a lifetime warranty.

+1

Almost always a promotional offer too. Every few weeks the offers change so worth holding on for a little while if there's one you really want but not currently part of the promotion.

I have the super big set in the house, medium set in the ML and small set in the C.

Great quality for the money.

I have a full Teng Tools box (like ed from wheeler dealers) and all the tools are excellent but I also have a few halfords tools and they have lasted years and a bargain compared to the big brands.

I have a lot of snap on tools/boxes too but that just because the snap on man comes around every week and offers me his second hand trade in's...

:thumb: Another vote for Halfords. Keep the receipt somewhere safe. I've had two things break over the years and they always replace without question under lifetime guarantee.

.

And of course you have the internet rumours that the original Halfords Pro range were made by Snap-on, the Advanced range are apparently made by someone else.

halfords pro range is great. I got a facom set off ebay a while back for a great price and they are brilliant as well.

Halfords professional range is good, and they've replaced a few bits of mine that have broken without any fuss, but be aware that "Moving parts" aren't included in the lifetime guarantee, so specifically ratchets aren't covered.

B&Q's own Torq brand actually look suspiciously similar to the Halfords Professional sets and are a lot cheaper. The 150pc set in Halfords is currently £199 and what seems to be the same set from Torq is £99 in B&Q. Remember pensioners get 10% in B&Q on a Wednesday as well.

I've just spent a stupid amount of money on Wera tools and socket sets, and to my mind they are streets ahead of anything else out there, including the over priced snap off stuff. Not just well made, but properly designed to make jobs easier to do. Not cheap, but worth it.

I've got a halfords torque wrench and it looks like its made by beta as have one of those at work and it identical on colours and design and feel so if the rest are made by them they are very good.

I got the 150 piece Halfords pro set for £99. Just wait for a special offer / sale...you won't be waiting long.

I'm still using a small 1/2" drive Hilka socket set I bought 35 years ago. No matter how hard I try I just can't seem to break it. I've bought some metric and some Torx sockets from the Halfords Pro range to augment it.

My Hilka set is over 50 years old, I haven't broken anything but lost the odd socket, which I replaced with Britool, Anybody need any Whitworth socets?:):)
