We had a bit of a challenge amongst a few people I know - "biggest bang for buck" we called it. Funnily enough max budget was set at £2k also. I bagged a SAAB 95 AERO for £1400 and had it remapped for £80 to stage 1. I then stuck on a set of goodyear F1's and I think I ended up with a bargain basement performance car. Only thing that lets it down is lack of feel through steering. It is an auto.
Here's the spec which is pretty good considering price paid:
270BHP
440NM of torques
Full leather interior, electric front seats with memory
Heated from and rear seats
Electric and folding mirrors
xenon lights
automatic wipers
Aircon
cruise control
Built in satnav
Bose sound system/speakers
remote central locking
Sport mode which improves throttle response and speeds up gearbox (complete bonkers mode I call it)
Rear parking sensors
