Are stainless braided lines worth it on cars? I've always had them on my bikes, but the bikes have needed them. My hoses are looking a bit tired and will be due replacement soon.

On bikes they are great but mostly cosmetic, on cars only really worthwhile on high performance cars with big brakes that get the fluid very hot resulting in swelling and expanding of the hoses resulting in reduced efficiency of the brakes and further travel of the pedal, if you have something like an AMG, fit them, if you have a C180 like me it would be pretty pointless to fork out the extra cost.

Wouldn't thought it worth while really unless you tend to stamp on your bakes regulary and try to stop in the shortest possible distance,You will never see them like on a bike and maybe it will make the feel of the pedal feel slightly harder.Ive always wondered tho,How would you see if there is ever any damage or weak spots forming is its covered in stainless braiding?

This is how you tell when a metal line has gone. The guy looking at this one when the lever was pumped got an eyful of brake fluid and had to be rushed to A&E.
