got clamped today, whilst going for a parking ticket

cut the clamp out and stuff it up his backside. If any of his mates attack you you have a criminal case against them.
Next time you park in an unknown area, hang around for a few seconds in your car to scan the area for clamping scallys

Not sure how I missed this post but a very similair thing happend to me last september.
I was visiting a site in Hayes and the only parking is a private car park, all the contractors have to use it unfortunately. Anyway I parked up and then realised that I didn't have any change for the bloke in the hut, no machines just an old git in a hut and he writes you a ticket.
I offered him a £20 note to which he laughed and said he didn't have enough change, no problem I said I'll get one of the blokes from the site to pop over with the change, the site is a stones throw away.
I rang one of my chaps and he came over with some change and we got the ticket and walked back to my car. It was then that we saw the clamp on the car. Whilst I had been waiting for my chap to come over with the change, about 3 mins, some other little sh** had clamped me.
We went back to the bloke in the hut and explained the problem and he just kept repeating that the clamp had gone on at 11.46 and my ticket had 11.50 written on it. The chap who bought me the change said that all the blokes on the site saw me drive in and that if it went to court he wouldn't have a leg to stand on. He just repeated the time on the ticket and the time it was clamped.
No problem I said as I rang another bloke to bring over a nice large battery operated grinder.
Five minutes later the clamp was in pieces with 3 monkeys standing round me wanting to kill me but not bothering as they were surounded by 15 hefty looking builders and electricians just waiting to pounce.
Needless to say I never recieved a court summons for criminal damage but I did have to find somewhere else to park whenever there was a site meeting at that particular job.:D
Sometimes it's best to play dirty and as I pointed out to them rather smugley as I drove off, they would now loose over £200 a week as my contactors would be banned from using their crappy parking facilities again.:D

I think what you did was morally correct and right and I congratulate you on doing it - BUT - in the eyes of the law you committed a criminal act and if it had gone to court you would have been on thin ice --- but once again congrats and as they say so often the law is an ass...:bannana:

When a friend lived in London a housemate used to get clamped often.

He used to cut the clamp off and take it home.

No car, no clamp, unless they perform a search, no evidence.

Another escape is to call a breakdown service to recover the car. The clampers won't let the clamp go but can't stop you taking the car...Catch 22.
Motorist = 1, clampers = 0.

Although sorting this fellow out with some form violence on your part may very well be a pleasant thought, there is every chance of getting nicked yourself or being on the recieving end from some of his 'friends'.So perhaps you need to approach this from a different angle. There is no doubt a local chav population and they are more than likely up for some moneymaking schemes themselves, to fund their white lightening and dope habits. Now we have all seen these little sods getting away with joyriding, arson, smashing car windows ect on the TV.Perhaps now is the time to invest some money in the youth of today so they can express themselves, find their creative side if you know what I mean;) They won't get done for anything the cctv pics are never that good, and you'll no doubt be able to see the action on one of those cop programmes that they put out on freeview late at night:)

:D

You probably missed it because the thread was started in Jan'05.

If he doesn't get sentenced then we could turn up at the car park, say 10 of us together. Whilst he is busy clamping a car whilst the owner is fetching a ticket we just need to watch and possibly video it. That should be evidence enough...

Sorry to be on the slow side, but how can the breakdown service recover the car? Surely it would need a traight lift onto a flatbed, unless of course the breakdown service remove the clamp?

Most of these clamping conpanies are hired by people who know full well the intimidating methods these low lifes use, yet it is always the clampers that get tarre. Why does Hamworth are whatever?? employ these thugs?

There used to be a site that belonged to a very friendly chap - you'de post an "anonymous" message on his site (which only he could read) and sometime that night an "anonymous" third party would grind the clamps off your vehicle...

Let me see if I can find that link...

EDIT:If I'm not mistaken, this was the link; but its dead now...
http://www.anglegrinderman.org/

Edit2: Yep, that was him

Long live the few who still have the courage to do what they believe is right...

Used to be anglegrinderman.co.uk but that site has been craftily taken over by a legitimate business company, hence I will not post a link.

You just did ....

I was also clamped ages ago , similar sort of circumstances - however , by letting the tyre down and jacking the vehicle up I could take the clamp off . I had to hide in a hedge whilst doing so - otherwise of course I would have won a clamp on the other wheel . I drove about 30M onto the public highway , and changed the tyre .

I took the clamp back to Uxbridge police station and explained the situation ( gave them a good laugh) - the waited a few hours befor ringing the clamping company up , and asking them to attend for payment and removal of the clamp - took my JCB back , and had a good laugh at their expense , and let them get to the point of nearly calling the police to report a stolen vehicle .

I consider a link to be either

or

http://www.google.co.uk/

I just put in anglegrinderman.co.uk

If anyone wants to go to that site which is no longer anything to do with this person then they would perhaps have to type in further information to make it work hence my remark about not wanting to post a direct link? ;)

You must live mighty close to me... Question; did you still need to pay the clamp removal fee?

I know its lowering yourself to his level, but park round the corner, select a well balanced brick, enter the carpark and lob it straight through his windscreen while he's sitting in it and then off like a rocket....

highly unlikely he'll be out of the car in time to catch you , and you have some satisfaction. make sure he doesnt see your car though or you may get busted.

If he does call plod, and theres no evidence that you were there , then it's only his word against yours.

Violence is a form of communication, and sometimes the only form these people understand . I don't advocate the use of it, but sometimes it is necessary.

p.s. I feel bad for having wrtitten this but i was so incensed at what had happened to you i felt i had to .

I think it's a great idea. I'd do it if it was me.
