Just wanted to post a big thank you to the top chaps at comandonline.co.uk who did a superb job of fitting Comand to my E-Class this morning. They really couldn't have been any more helpful, professional or friendly.
My first impressions are that even though the Comand works perfectly you can kind of tell it's old technology. The TMC function is good and the navigation effective, it's just the graphics which are a little dated. I'm not holding my breath, but maybe the new disk will improve things a little.
I also had the iPod kit fitted which I'm very impressed with. As Richard pointed out, the way MB have implemented it is a bit of a bodge as it doesn't really talk to the Comand. However the way you can control it will the steering wheel and view the track names in the cluster more than makes up for this. It sounds pretty good too
So thanks again guys and maybe when I've recovered from the financial impact of having Comand fitted I'll go the whole hog and have the phone installed too. Oh and if Richard gets Distronic to a point where it can be cost effectively fitted to a W211, I'm definitely interested
