got stressed and fitted the double din

finally bit the bullet and made myself a double din hole on my 1999 e55 amg although the head unit might not be everyones cup of tea it does everything bar boil eggs and the front is detachable so i can use as an android tablet.

so after a bit of hack sawing and filler and carbon wrap.....

little bit more tidying to do just to make stuff fit correctly but this was pics after the first fix..will post more when all finished

nice carbon fiber wrap.
is it glossy or matte 3M wrap?
does it stick well, wrapping doesn't come off if glue dries?

lol i did do the fit at the pub, but thats only cause i own and run one , i used the 3m (catpiano) from ebay £19.99 for 1.5m x 3m which i thought was a bargain, its a matt ish textured finish and looks good in the flesh.
As for the climate control that is now hidden in the lower cubby hole, flip the lid and there it is all working and functioning.
there was no need to cut or chop any wiring as luckily it is just long enough to reach.as for the wrap if you use a hairdryer to warm it up and then stretch (gently) over each item it sticks really well. these photos were taken after i had just put everything in place to make sure it all fits, i will post more pics over the weekend once everything is bolted down for good.

for the average mechanic/diy'er this is not that difficult........

oh and the head unit is an xtrons, not the best make in the world i have had it for a year with no issues and it does everything, here is the item number from ebay if you fancy a look
