Car
ML63
I don't normally keep my car's that long, longest I'v kept a car was my M5 and it was nearly 2 yr's.

Anyway I can't fault my E63, love it to bits and it's been the best car I'v ever owned and lived up to and exceeded my expectations.

There's absolutely no reason to change but wanted my fellow enthusiasts opinions.

Half of me think's I'm stupid as I'v got my car the way I want it and it's took me best part of a year, the other half say's S63 AMG and that last half say's wait and save up for the W212 Biturbo E63.

Anyone got an S63 or had one?

Cheers;)

I'm not sure whether your choices indicate you must have four doors but I parked up next to a CL63 at work the other day. I can't really recall seeing another on the road and it was bloody beautiful.

This one looks nice.

Yup 4 door's a must but no estate as I can get the pram in the boot.

I just keep thinking the S63 might be a bit boat like. Yes the CL is a beautiful machine the Mrs loved it when they had one in the showroom at the dealer.

The reason for the choice between the 2 which are quite different is because the S63 has comfort on another level but also can shift if needs be, also there's only soo fast you can travel up here BUT the W212 Biturbo can be tuned to silly power and you can never have too much power even if I'm prob never going to use it.

S Class's, though fab, are enormous.

You could try a S212 6.2 - it has a different box, different suspension and different steering rack, and (IMO) a more updated interior look.

When I bought mine I said it would be an interim car before a 5.5 t/t, so you can still make that step in the future.

Whereabouts are you based?

I'm up in glasgow

Have thought about about the S212 but for a little more saving more can get a Biturbo so makes more sense keeping mine for a little longer.

I'v heard alot of people say the S is massive was down in London and my Uncle has an S500L and I loved it but don't know what they are like to live with on a daily basis.

also no garages up here have an S63 to test drive and see what it's like either :(

I like the S-class and think in my experience (W220 320 and early 221 280) handled much better than something of the size has any right to. They are supremely comfortable and can be hustled along, at which point they become uncomfortable for all but the driver :D

They're never going to be a fully-focussed drivers' car but for the use you've described I think you owe it to yourself to get the S-Class box ticked.

I'll buy it off you when you're bored with it :)

Ok here's the other thing that's also at the back of my mind, There's a 760Li in the family that I can use whenever and I hate the thing, don't mind being a passenger but don't like driving it at all.

I drove 450 miles in it and didn't click with it at all.

S or CL is noticeably bigger than E or CLS

I found the CL (the 216, which is just lovely) just too big such that it crossed the line from a barge you can hustle into a barge that just doesn't want to be hustled

very different driving experience.

I drive a S320cdi on a daily basis and a CL55k on the weekends. A few months back I drove a W221 S65 and that was just an awesome machine. The owner has sold his S65 for a new CL that I'm going to check out soon I hope.

Once you've driven one for a few weeks you get completely used to the size and these days an E feels small and a C is absolutely tiny.

They show their mass and size on a B road, but anything else and it is just the best place to be!!

You haven't lived until you've owned an S!

This is my concern with the S, just being a passenger in an S made me feel like this.

I love the E for what it is and can't fault it.

Would love the S class when I retire & need a multi back massage as I drive to the doctors to get my flu jab.

As for now coming onto a whopping 40 this year.. C,CLS,E CLASS are my ideally frames of car ...S Class is when I become The Don!

At 21 my motor was Rosso red Escort XR3i.... :bannana:

Everyone I know gives me the old man (despite being relatively young myself)/ drug dealer jokes. But whenever we have to car share anywhere, it's always the S that they want to go in...

Thank's definetly look's like I need to try one of these beasts, The 760Li is very well specced and it's lush, sitting in there feels very relaxing so I can imagine what an S will be like

AMG versions of CL and S-Class are very spot on in terms of handling. ABC suspension is renowned for having nearly no body roll.

Given it's an S-Class though, I'd get a 65 instead of 63. More fun for virtually the same money (preowned).

I'm looking at the 2007/2008 S63 or even S65 do they have ABC?

I looked at the S65's and they are on another level of power, so they could also be a potential IF I change.

Yes, both come with ABC only. A modded 65 (remap + cooling) will eat any of the new TT AMG for lunch.
