and get a 760li

I miss the comfy wafting about from the 740d.

BUT if I bought one then theres no way in a million years I could sell it on. so the hit as soon as I drive off is around £20k That's more than I'm willing to take and that's whats holding me back.

The reason I'm taking the hit into account is becasue I don't keep my cars long at all.

Tell me I've lost the plot and it is a stupid idea.

Everyone I've asked has said the same thing don't do it but you only live etc etc

I've got experience of trying to sell one on and we've still got it and my old man drives it now, it seems like no one wants one not even for free.

Here's what I'd make it look like though

It ain't never gonna be an E63 - it's a barge by comparison.

You could bling up your slippers if you buy it - that might help :thumb:.

I enjoy the E63 I just don't use it to it's full potential

The 7 series being a 6.0 V12 Biturbo is no slouch either so won't be losing much in the way of power and gaing a hell of a lot more comfort.

They don't make slippers for guys my age :p

Feck me, I thought I flip-flopped between cars: you've only had it two minutes haven't you?!

I nearly bought one last year at 40k off list. Still had a long way to drop so I bottled it. Great cars but if you change a lot then yes you are mad to even consider a 7.

Yup couple of months

Nothing wrong with the E63 Love it to bits, can't fault it in any way and puts a smile on my face everyday

I know these keep dropping and never stop thats the reason I haven't bought one yet.

knowing me 6 months later I'll want something different I had an 11 plate 740d M Sport and great car only let down was power, which the 760 has bucket loads off.

I know I should really keep aaway from these but just haven't stopped looking at them for over a week.

Crazyness I know

I drive a Ghost which is essentially the same car and it is outrageously fast for something so hefty and would surprise many an AMG in a straight line.

I can imagine, It's got plenty of grunt 544 bhp and plus a remap would take it well over 600bhp.

So I'm thinking of the resell as being a make or break

90% of me wants it but the sensible 10% is stopping me.:wallbash:

You didn't go down Hampton Hill High St in it yesterday did you ?

Saw one as I was sipping my latte  at the coffee shop , can't be too many of them around and you're just down the road from me aren't you ?

Know exactly what you mean but I was fighting a different brand I will be honest.

For me I really wanted an S8 4.0 TFSi 520bhp. But the issue was it's depreciation was stupidly high. But the car was comfier, but not as fun to drive. However nearly as quick.

Still went for the RS6 4.0 TFSi 560bhp and apart from the fact Audi are a bunch of ****ers, the car is absolutely awesome. Due to the fact it has air suspension it rides better than my Range Rover Sport, but in dynamic mode it is just awesome.

I still love the S8 though....

If Merc did a CLS63 Shooting Brake PP in 4 wheel drive I would be on it.

Stick with the SL for some RWD fun.

Nope why? I think it looks quite smart for a luxo barge :dk:

I think they are indeed impressive machines just the pic you used was a bit "generic bad guys' car" and indeed those or similarly specced S Classes do seem to be the Eastern European villain's wheels of choice :)

It'll be worse when the 7 series is replaced soon too. I think you should hold off

I did the same last year but the other way around:comfort to sporty.
bought a couple months old audi a7 bitdi an traded in my m3 for it at the time.
i thought i grew up.......**** NO sold it with in 4 months and thats when i got the c63.
i never looked back.....but thats just me.
i hated it that i felt as im driving a ferry, it was a quick car 320bhp/700is nm torque but it had as much soul/caracter as a tootbrush.
i had 9 cars in 8 years(mostly performance) since i drive but i have to telll you and im sure you know that there are not many cars out there like any amg....yes there are quicker, more comfy, maybe better looking options but the one thing amg nails every time its the engine....they put it in there cars as a centere piece....its what makes an amg an amg.
for instance the m3 was in some ways a more precise, dct gearbox, adaptive dampers....etc.but you had to go mental in it to feel that.in an amg you know allways that you sitting in a bomb

Is it a must to buy new? How about nearly new? That way someone has taken most of the hit for you already

Do you still have your 760li? Sorry to hijack this thread but I don't have the post count to PM you.....I'm a total lurker! If you have can you PM me?

Cheers.

Yup still got the 760li

I can't pm you though

I just want to ask, which reasons do you prefer the 7 Series over the S Class. Is it because the 7 Series is more of a drivers car?
