GPS faulty ?

I have recently installed Comand in my car.

How long does it take for it to see some satellites.

Currently using NAV + 5, I have the following

Fix4, Sat 0/0
Alm 1, height 0m
Pos 00 00' 00" , 00 00' 00"
DOP 0 0 0

Is my GPS receiver faulty, not the correct one or does it take some time.
I have reade that it can take up to 8 hours but that seems strange.

When I fitted mine I drove it around and it started finding them within a couple of minutes.
I have heard that it can take hours but that does seem weird to me; I just can't think why that would be.
I have also heard that driving around helps it pick them up quicker but that seems equally odd but it worked with mine. May have been coincidence.

It's working now. I removed the PDC panel and put the receiver onto the top of the dash. From that point it took 40 minutes.

Put the PDC back on and it seems OK now. Very strange.
