Hello guys,
On my CLK I always wanted to purchase a iPod and interface to replace the CD changer. I had to use my iPhone hooked up to the Aux jack in the glove box which was a bit of a pain for changing tracks etc.
I was looking a them for the CL but the cost put me off the interfaces so I just forgot about it and used CDs.
Recently though I bought a 128Gb iPad which holds all my music and didn't do the job I wanted it to is rarely gets used. If you've ever used Apples Remote app I wondered if there was a app that can control the iPad over Bluetooth from my iPhone. Turns out there is and it's called Tango.
You install the app to your iPod/iPad (that you leave running on the device you leave in the car) and your iPhone.
As soon as you jump in the car and open the app on the phone it will connect to the device in the car in seconds and you can select songs/playlists and off you go. Obviously you can do it on the go if you have a passenger in the car or when stopped.
Pretty much as close as you will get to fully integrated without the dad on device and might cost you nothing or a couple of hundred for a iPod Touch which is still less than a interface.
The app syncs with your iPod library on the Device so will always be up to date after a sync with the computer. Only costs £4 from the App Store and you only purchase it once for multiple devices.
Thought this might be of interest to some on here.
EDIT: your phone will also sync with the hands free in the car via Bluetooth as normal too so you don't lose any features there either.
