I'm fairly competent with a spanner but without easy access to a ramp and a trip to Le Mans coming up, I had to turn to a garage to help me on a few jobs.
Having not taken my W140 to a specialist before, I thought I'd share my experience of Wayne Gates. I had spoken to Terry on the phone and explained what jobs I needed doing, he told me he would not be in the garage on the day I would be there. It was his birthday! :bannana:
I was a bit concerned that I would be missing out on Terry's expertise that is regarded so highly on this forum, however my concerns were alleviated as soon as I met Jamie and Ben. These guys were absolutely brilliant at looking into a couple of mystery issues on my W140. Jamie has a great can-do attitude and was refreshingly positive for a professional mechanic, none of the usual groaning! Ben who changed the ATF and drop links triple checked all the bolts and even polished up some that were getting some surface rust.
The workshop was stocked with only MB fluids and they even had some homemade tools to press in an outer control arm bearing. I have no hesitation in recommending the garage. They were so good I am entrusting them with some further work I'm unable to do at home as it involves dropping the exhaust.
