Just got back home after having a blast in my recent car purchase. My Son had his playlist going and we had a chat about great guitarists.

Pink Floyd with coming back to life sounded awesome. Not a drivers song till it gets a bit later on in the song but great tune.

Now I'm back home this is the tune on youtube -

I used to think Mark King was the king. What is yours?

Andy Fairweather Lowe gets my vote. Amen Corner lead vocals many years ago, Clapton’s lead guitarist on his tours in the 90s, and still (at least pre-lockdown) doing brilliant live gigs.

So many great guitarists out there. For me Greeny at his best was one of the very best blues guitarists and vocalists.

Someone else I like a lot is Aynsley Lister.

And... must check out King King

I've worked with some "name" guitarists, Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck - to name just a few (none of whom would ever claim to be a great singer), but my good friend from Melbourne, Geoff Achison can play AND sing.

and he's pretty tasty on acoustic too

^ Cool.

The only named players I've ever worked with is this pair (we opened for them a couple of times):

Slightly off topic, but in the days when I was singing in bands, my most memorable (and proudest) moment was opening for the Bonzos in the Great Hall at Lancaster Uni around 1968. We shared the dressing room (a large music room, complete with Steinway grand) and within 10 minutes of their arrival, they'd started a rehearsal of a couple of new numbers in the style of the Temperance Seven. Neil Innes was playing the piano, Viv Stanshall was singing while the rest of the band sat on a line of chairs, playing and tapping their feet to Legs Larry Smith's syncopated rhythm. Our own private show.......one for the memory bank!

As for their performance on stage - beautifully bonkers and immensely clever!

Back to guitarists and singers. Sorry about that......

Three for the price of two.

King King's Alan Nimmo has an older and bigger brother - Stevie - who's a bloody good singer too. They both have a liking for a Scotch pie (or several). Never seen anyone else do the trick they've developed of playing each other's guitars (at 12.45 in the video). I first saw them doing that over 20 years ago at a blues club in Notts where I was the MC. Always a great night when the Nimmo Brothers are playing.

^ Nimmo Brothers are great. I think I saw something about Stevie will be playing with King King.

Carlos Santana is starting to get the hang of playing guitar, but not singing.

My friend and neighbour Gizz Butt is pretty good at both (and at least this video includes a car!)

OK gents - aren't we forgetting someone who could sing the pants off everyone already mentioned (we wish), while being a world class slide player?

"I ain't no porcupine, take off your kid gloves". Thank you John Hiatt - Shakespeare never wrote a line like that!
