Greetings from a new member

Hello,

Thought I would introduce myself. My name is Ben and I am a Merc fan, past cars have included a W123 280E and a 2005 c-class

I currently have a 1989 300SL which is now looking a bit sorry for itself so I am going to take it off the road and re-build it. Have not done anything like it before but know my way round a set of spanners. I like the idea of fitting a more modern engine to the car.

This looks like a good place to get hints and tips so expect some silly questions over the coming months !

However , you'll have to look very hard to find an improvement over the M103 : it's one of the best and smoothest engines Merc ever made .

Putting anything newer in would be a nightmare of electronics and probably less reliable to boot .
