If I was using a PC for or at work, I would consider paying for it I suppose, but as a non-commercial user there are plenty of free AV tools, I've used AVG for years now, and 2012 is good, but consumer level AV is still just consumer level AV, If you need real protection, you need more than just an AV scanner...

The free version is OK but it does lack firewall protection (although the windows firewall doesn't do a bad job).

£9 is a great deal
