I think I may have visited the same specialist, and spent more (I did get the CHG and ATF done at the same time mind..)

If you post the breakdown, you'll get better feedback, these MBs don't come cheap you know...

Yep a breakdown would be useful.

My guess is that it should have cost less than half of that amount, but the glowplugs gave the garage a lot of trouble - maybe even a head off job to remove and replace?

Isn't this quite a common problem on CDI engines?

I'm sorry to hear your news, it's a painful lesson learnt I'm afraid. I would have guessed £800-£1000 +VAT.
Next time get them to quote for any additional work.

I'd definately wait for the extra information before forming an opinion on this, if the cylinder head has had to come off or something it's a heck of a lot more work than a basic service.

Shouldn't be any need to take the head off for stuck plugs, and if it's been off why not do all the plugs.?

I'm only speculating about the plugs - never owned a CDI but I've heard some horror stories.

All I was suggesting is that there might be a little more to this than we all know at the moment - so I'm going to sit on the fence until we have all of the information.

Obviously if it was just a routine service, no-one would expect such a high bill.

Hi Nick; thanks. No break down just a hand written invoice literally listing what I noted in my first post and a total. Yes I am a mug!
Just felt embarrassed to tackle them at the time and now feel really stupid for not questioning them.
