Twas there on my W124 but have to admit was surprised to see it on the E Class coupe I test drove the other day.

Same cruise control stalky thing too:confused:

Not saying they don't work but having used an electronic jobby for a few years seemed like a bit of a throwback:confused:

I know what you mean. The ones on my C43's used to make a terrific racket when I released them - they sounded more Isambard Kingdom Brunel than AMG. Very incongruous.

The one on my 211 is a lot better and I don't have to apologise to startled passengers when it "fires".
 
rest your foot on the parking brake pedal as you pull the lever off. no more "bang"
