Was driving home from work in my escort van foot flat today doing 85mph in the over taking land (fast lane to some of us). I have no central mirror as no back windows, pulled over into the non overtaking lane(slow lane to some people e.g. BMW driver JOKE) when I saw a police car behind with it lights and siren on, i'm sure a few people here know my feeling at that point, lucky for me went past and it was the police dog section, lucky escape! RELIEF :bannana:

I was merrily cruising along with the traffic at about 20kph over the speed limit in NL with the ferry port almost in sight on the autobaan, and a police renault laguna appeared behind me with sirens and lights on. I thought I was in trouble but when I pulled in he shot off and harrassed the next person in that lane until that guy pulled in too. Must have been going somewhere important, was worried for a few seconds though!

Know the feeling. The relief afterwards is amazing!

Wasn't as bad as the time in france was chatting to my wife driving along on the dark autoroute when suddenly I noticed a police car seriously close to my rear end, got to say they had a cr*p siren couldn't even hear it till I noticed them there, let them pass and they started pointing for me to pull over, well my stomach sank was sure I was doing only 80 to 85mph. All that went through my head was how many euros I had in my pocket. So being my wife is french she spoke to them for me, got out the car and couldn't believe my ears they pulled me because my brake lights were faulty and had stayed on. So the police asked to see the cars manual so they could try fix it but they couldn't, so they escorted me off the motorway so that I didn't need to call a recovery truck and found a french kwik fit type place where they fixed it for free, reief!

Other panic was when passed the police in france in our 206 at 107mph bl**dy hell they were flashing me like mad, dont sk me how but managed not to get pulled. :bannana:

I've seen LOADS of peugeot 206s with the brake lights on permanently, what's the story? :)

My wife had a new 106 1.5D first car and that lasted well, then got 206 new had a few faults under warrenty and then 406 2 years old that we only had a year because was going funny even the gear box atarted playing up, really I should have had the sence to get a mercedes a year ago when we swapped the 206 in, especially as i love mercedes so much and had wanted one for so long. Take it from your statement your as happy with yours as i am with mine. :bannana:

I sure am happy, it uses more diesel but then again it's twice the size.
Before I had the 206 I had a 106 1.5D that was a brill little car till some dozey pillock of a bus driver ran into the back of it..!!!
This is my first Merc i've always wanted one and I am always looking for excuses to get in it and drive even down to the local shop all of 500 metres away :D. Also the respect I get from other motorists is incredible apart from a silly woman today doing a u turn at a mini rounabout with no indication what so ever  I was very shocked seeing as she was driving an E class, her eyes must have been painted on..!!
